I’m finally getting around to testing Windows Live Writer on a real blog. Let’s see how well it does and go from there. I also want to try adding images.

Three I am at home working on the blog… You can see from this picture that I have a lot of fun working on my websites, and those of my clients. I like to work near a window at all times, so I can look out and check on nature at the same time as working.

I’ve been a fan of Live Writer for several years, and had heard many good things about it, I’m just not sure how well it does. I created this test post, added an image, and now I am back into my blog online editing the same post, just to see how well it did. I’m impressed so far. I tried a few other WYSIWYG editors and they were either very old (and not updated to the latest version of WordPress, or they were not good enough for what I want to do. Let’s face it, adding and positioning images is not a fun task in WordPress, and using a full what you see is what you get editor makes all the difference in the world.

I’ve got tons of new products to review and I will get to that over the coming weeks. Let’s just say I’ve had a field day on the Warrior Forum, picking up quite a few products recently, most of them being for Facebook, and Social Media, or SMS marketing, or for my offline client gaining business of Web Design which I have been doing for years online for clients around the world.

I’ve had several blogs running for years now, I love posting new things as I find them using my blog. But let’s face it – you really want to be building an email list at the same time, so you can contact people with similar interests as you. And, if you want to be successful in marketing to those who have visited your blog in the past, then building an autoresponder list is the best way to do it…

It’s not hard to stick an Aweber or GetResponse form on your blog, in fact it’s almost too easy (just setup your list and click over to build a form and choose publish, grab the code – to copy/paste and your done), but it’s not easy enough in my mind – and it was not covering ‘all of the bases’: footer, sidebar, exit pop, lightbox pop, etc…

So, several months ago I started looking at alternatives, I found the excellent UFA (Ultimate Footer Ad) and enjoyed how well it worked, it did draw clicks, and I liked that, but was it converting fully…. well, yes and no. I knew how to create a great looking Footer and how to get people to click on it, but they were not always taking action. I also tried the excellent, and free, Optin Crusher plugin. It also had pretty graphics and was good at getting ‘in the eyes’ of my visitors – and staying there, as it did not go away…

Finally while digging around on a few forums I frequent, I came across Digi List Builder – and I’ve pretty much been in heaven ever since. Now, you may not feel the same way, so let me review some of the other List Building Tools I’ve tried to help you decide which one is right for you.

Optin Crusher (free) – this excellent free plugin does an excellent job of letting you put Audio/Video in your popup! It’s great for doing that, and I will say I need to do further testing on using Audio/Video to increase list signups, so I will need to revisit these reviews in time to make that comparison. Overall, it’s a good choice if Footer Ad is what you want. The argument is that a footer ad is not too obtrusive and it will keep your visitors happy by not being too ‘in your face’ as they read your blog. I do believe that is the case – but they also do not seem as happy to click either, and that can be a problem. Further testing is required so watch this post for updates.

CodeBanter WordPress Autoresponder Plugin (free) – this is another option which does work well for what you want it to do, let you drop an Aweber or GetResponse form anywhere in your blog. Once you install and activate the plugin you can either use Drag/Drop to place your form, or you can use a 1 line of shortcode (PHP code) to place the autoresponder form in your sidebar. It’s easy, and does it’s job, simple as that. Again, I have the form placed, but I do not see the sign-ups.

Ultimate Footer Ad ($47.00) – this slick footer ad / slide up script is great for incorporating into your Blogs. The main features that let it stand out are the statistics you can gather for each display, and click of the footer ad. Setup rotating ads and split-test them to find which one works best. It’s excellent at what it does, and if you want to test and know which ads are pulling best, it’s the way to go. Note that the page does not tout it’s WordPress features but it works just find in WordPress as it does on static pages. Still, though, I wish I had more signups.

Action PopUp ($47.00) – Robert Plank’s original Action PopUp. One of the first WordPress PopUp plugins. Michel Fortin has really claimed it works wonder, I can see why. You can choose your Lightbox ‘Dimming’ color, cool. A review will follow soon.

WPSuperPopup ($39.95) – Looks nice and does have a few interesting features (Exit Pop, Live Preview, and only show xx times). I’ve not used it yet, a review will follow.

And that takes me to the winner, in my opinion, just for the sheer capability of it, and that is Digi List Builder, read more below…

Digi List Builder ($97.00) – the king of all WordPress list building plugins as far as I’m concerned. I’ve been using for about 1 month now and it has gathered 4 times as many signups as the others have! Why? Because it offers a full host of blog interaction. This thing is awesome, you can turn on automatic signup forms 1.) in the sidebar, 2.) at the end of each post/page, 3.) in a slideup or footer ad that slides up on every page, 4.) in a fully configurable lightbox popup, 5.) in an Exit popup (pops up when someone tries to close/exit) your website. All of these are adjustable on/off with simple checkboxes, and you can turn them all on, if you want to, in about 30 seconds. It’s brilliant.

I will say I got a little carried away the first week I had it running, but I wanted to make sure it worked, so I turned on everything… then I found that people were not signing up frequently, and were getting a little angry, so I turned off the Exit Pops, and the Footer Ads. The best part is that they keep adding new features and updating the plugin. I’ve had 3 updates in the 1 month I’ve had it. They recently added stats, so you can see which form is gathering more clicks for you, and so far I’ve found that the Lightbox Popup is doing the trick – I have configured it to poup on every 2nd page visit. The best part is that ALL of these popups/forms go away after your visitor signs up, by dropping a cookie, so if they signup they will not be annoyed by any of the popups/forms asking them to signup, signup, SIGNUP! Because there will not be any… simple as that… a lovely piece of work, I highly recommend it. By the way, all of the signup forms you notice (in the sidebar, after every post that is on it’s unique page, and in the lightbox popup) were all setup, and are tracked with Digi List Builder (in about 5 minutes of setup).

I will be doing a larger review of Digi List Builder in the next few months after I gather further stats on it’s effectiveness.

And The Winner Is:

All of these scripts are winners, in fact they each do a great job at what they claim to do, including Ultimate FooterAd (stats/split testing) and OptInCrusher (audio/video) but in my mind there is one overall winner because it does pretty much everything the others do (except for the split testing, and the audio/video), and that is:

Digi List Builder ($97.00) – you cannot beat it for what it will do for you, without wasting any time. Install/activate and set a few check boxes and start gathering your list – it really is that simple. Rating: Excellent

Watch for a more in-depth review of Digi List Builder in the next few months as I put it through all of it’s paces… Happy email list building!

Need traffic to your site? Get all you want with these amazing videos. Full details and an honest review of Underground Traffic Blueprints including a breakdown of the videos included and what's inside... This is one product that is not to be missed if you need traffic to your site!

I’m watching video like crazy to get this review out to you… I’ve spent the last 4 days (off and on) watching videos in Underground Traffic Blueprints and I am thoroughly impressed. In this honest review I will tell you why I am impressed and I will also let you know what I do not like about the product, so let’s get started.

The hype of this product has been enormous, leave it to Simon and Jeremy, but I have to tell you, if you have a website, you really, really need this product. If you are looking for real traffic to your website, you need Underground Traffic Blueprints. The intro videos, and the sample videos have really been a little ‘lacking’, but I figured, for $77.00 (price may have gone up since this post) it’s worth it, just to see what is inside. When I first logged in I found sets of videos.

Underground Traffic Blueprints

In this section there are 4 phases, phase 1 through 4. The phases do not make sense as each seem to be completely different sections on how to generate tons and tons (millions) of visitors to your website, so listen up… Here are the details on how I see the Phases:

Phase 1 goes into a unique Google Adwords technique that I’ve heard of recently. It includes complete details on how to go through the entire process, from top-to-bottom, it’s very well documented. I’ve seen some of this covered before, but this one goes into full details. It starts at the ‘newbie’ level and even if you know nothing about how to do some of these things you can learn quickly by watching the videos. (this includes 6 videos ranging from 4 minute to 22 minutes, the total running time here is: (62 Minutes).

Phase 2 covers how to use blogs to generate up to 8 million visitors to your blog, yes MILLION! It may sound impossible, or ridiculous, but after watching the videos I can tell you it is not, if you dedicate the time to it. There are 2 videos here (47 minutes and 26 minutes)

Phase 3 looks at article marketing in great detail. I’m talking about ‘Guerilla Article Marketing’ here, how to write an article fast, get it up on the directories and get traffic to the article. It’s well documented in 4 videos. Some of the techniques I already knew about, but others I have not, just this one phase alone is worth the price of admission… but it gets better (read below). The 4 videos total (73 minutes).

Phase 4 is the biggest of all and covers Social Network Traffic building (everything from facebook to press releases, etc). The 3 videos are 54, 12 and 29 minutes totalling: (95 minutes). This is a huge but there is a bonus that spends over 2 hours covering just Facebook Marketing! I’m watching that now… but I learned a lot just in this phase with techniques that made perfect sense and actually turned on a light-bulb compared to some of the other ‘Facebook Training’ I have seen in the last 2 weeks or so… I’ve been gearing up for Facebook marketing lately.

Ok, I now see the phases are laid out differently. I don’t understand lumping all of these videos together, but they are all on one page and actually the phases I describe above are really Phase 1 and Phase 2, then there are 2 more phases after this: Phase 3 – Underground SEO Tactics, and Phase 4 – Underground Massive Traffic Blueprint, wow this Phase thing is confusing, but like I said it is really of no use anyway as the videos are grouped together in 3-4 video segments covering a major topic in each, splitting them into phases is really not of much use, and there’s no reason I can see that you have to do Phase 1 first, then Phase 2, etc, etc… in fact you could pick and choose any of these Video Segments at a time and go from there…

Underground Ad Secrets

Ok, that just about covers it – but, as I said I’m diving into the Bonus Videos which are: Underground Ad Secrets. This entire 4 video series covers Facebook Ads and how to do it, from soup to nuts, it’s all in there… I’m still watching these videos, they total 33, 39, 44, and 46 minutes! Do you see what I mean, wow, over 2.5 hours of material here, and it’s great content and techniques with full details.

Well, I think I’ve about covered it… I have to go back now to watching video, and if you haven’t guessed by now – I highly recommend you check this out and give it a listen. If you have a website and you want more traffic, there is no better way to generate it than by watching these videos, as it’s all layed out for you in bite size steps (just watch a series, or group at a time and don’t pay attention to the phases).

These blueprints are on a special price right now, with the bonuses so head over there and grab them at this link: Undgeround Traffic Blueprints – Click Here!

Christmas season is over, and now the latest news is that several large (big box) retailers, and many smaller retail brick and mortar stores can’t make it anymore, and are ready to throw in the towel and file Chapter 11 bankruptcy, or just close the doors altogether. Why is this news so shocking when we know that our USA economy is in a serious recession?

There is one reason I feel that this is shocking, and it’s something that everyone who works at a job in a retail environment. Just a few days ago the news reads – Amazon posts it’s largest Holiday Season profit! What should this tell you? Several things, and here they are…

Reasons why the 2008 Holiday Retail failure is important to everyone

It’s the brick and mortar, real storefront stores that are having a hard time making it and things are probably going to get worse.

Online retailers are still cranking out the profits in record amounts, they are unaffected by these problems.

Any job related to the retail industry is in trouble.

People, in general are shopping less and less in real stores, and more and more in online environments.

I think you can see the trend here, as the real storefronts (brick and mortar stores) face disastrous consequences in recession, the online retailers and those in online business are doing just fine (thank you). Why is that important to ‘honest Joe’ on the street? Because, in my opionion, if you haven’t started to think about how you can become a part of the online business bonanza, you should be!

I have ran my own online business for over 11 years now, through tough times and good times, and I can honestly say that the profits and the ability to earn an income online is just as secure. I believe it is even more secure than most jobs in real ‘brick’ stores, or locations where you will have to worry about how every economic downturn, or upswing will affect your salary or benefits.

What are the simple things anyone can do to consider an online business?

1.) Visit Finding Your Niche Live and find out where your real strengths are.
2.) Check out this post on my blog about how anyone can start making money – with or without technical skills.
3.) Determine a “plan of action” for 2009 that includes additional online revenue streams that you can use to make your income more secure.
4.) Sign up as an affiliate of Amazon and learn how to sell Amazon products and collect some of their record profits for yourself, this could include blogging posts, reviews of products, or even setting up a basic referral page on a free service such as Google ‘Sites’.

I bet you will feel a little more secure in 2009 if you start planning any type of online income for yourself. Start doing it now, or at least thinking about it, your life will change, and you will be less affected by the crazy economic news that’s been going on.

Best of luck and to your Profit and Success,
-Brett

Please note, this review is for hard copy (printed) magazines, there is a separate post for electronic newsletters/ezines. I’ve joined quite a few internet marketing print magazines in my time. Most of them cost about $30 to $40/month, and yet, sometimes they offer only poor content, or very little content. Some of them cost up to $97/month or more, and of those, it still may be hard to find the best Internet Marketing content that can really help you get ahead. There are only a few that I highly recommend:

1.) Website Magazine – a completely free magazine that covers all of the bases. When I first found out about this I thought it was too good to be true. A free sample came to my mailbox, and now that I’ve read the last 15-20 issues, I have to say, this is one of my top favorites, and best of all, it’s free. Get your free copy at this address: http://www.websitemagazine.com/scripts/sub/subscribe.aspx
Check it out at this address: http://www.websitemagazine.com

2.) The Net Effect – owned by Stomper Net, this great magazine just started a few months ago. I can tell from the content that this is going to be a great magazine. Everything is covered, SEO in great detail, linking, customer service and support, analytics and analysis, blogging, web audio and video. The magazine averages about 50 pages/month, the articles are detailed and actionable (they focus on you taking action) and it even includes a ‘How to turn this issue into a Goldmine!’ page at the end of each issue with 15-20 things you can follow up on from that issue. Great stuff. Unfortunately right now they are no longer accepting subscriptions, but you owe it to yourself to sign up for the waiting list, here’s the website to do it at: http://stse2.com/. The magazine goes for around $40/month and an additional $20/month for an accompanying DVD.

3.) Dot Com Profits – Russel Brunson’s magazine is a joy to read and also full of valuable content, just not quite as much as The Net Effect, but almost. The number of articles are fewer, but longer, and a DVD/video is included with each issue. I think this one runs $39.97, more info at: http://membershipsite.dotcomsecrets.com/

That wraps up my list for now, stay tuned and I’ll post others that I find useful – or post a comment and let me know of some that you enjoy…

Friday the 13th! Hmmmm…. an excellent time to look for some really great new ‘blogs’ on – what else ‘blogging’. Anyway, I’ve turned up some excellent new ones, and included them in the Links section.

I thought I would let you in on them here, just in case you’re looking to do some serious blogging to attract Adsense dollars, or any others. I do not have much experience in this area, and would prefer that you look at these other sites, they really know their stuff, and there is money to be made in blogging – but again, it all comes down to 1.) Finding a Profitable Niche that you enjoy first. 2.) You really need to be sure it’s profitable, unless your blogging for fun – which is fine too. 3.) Find and setup a good theme in WordPress, as it’s essential to attracting readers. Some people will do this the faster way by choosing BlogSpot.com, or Blogger.com which will let you setup a free Blog – that’s fine too – but if you really want to get serious, get setup with a hosting company, purchase a domain name, and get WordPress setup. As far as Hosting companies are concerned – there’s one great one for beginners, and others (I use it myself). It’s cheap, reliable, and easy to use – you can setup a WordPress Blog with 1 Click – the host: HostGator – check them out – I recommend starting with at least the ‘Baby Croc’ package.

After that you need to get setup for Adsense, and insert your adsense codes throughout your blog – then you can get started tracking how that is going. I’ll put together a short video on this in the next few days – and we can go from there.

Here are the really great Internet Marketing Blogs I found:
I Gotta Tell You – Jim Edward’s excellent (and long-standing) blog on Internet Marketing – I’ve been a follower of his work for years.
Court’s Internet Marketing School an excellent blog with Videos, and tutorials, well worth the read.
Yaro Starak’s Entrepreneur’s Journey is well done, includes video tutorials and free eBook.
Grizzly’s How To Make Money Online for Beginners and excellent blog – poorly designed, but still a great read.
Daily Blog Tips a good starting point – mostly themes, plugins and tips on setting up WordPress effectively.
ProSense – an AdSense Ready WordPress Theme to get you started.
